British services company 3sun Group has hired an extra 100 wind turbine technicians, swelling its ranks to more than 400.
Some of the new recruits will assist with the installation of 56 Siemens turbines at Innogy’s 336MW Galloper wind farm off the Suffolk coast.
3sun said it received more than 1,500 CVs when it advertised for the new positions in January. Many applicants were workers from the oil and gas sector looking for a new career.
“People in the town can see these towers being built and changing their town’s skyline and it is the local labor making it happen,” 3sun chief executive Graham Hacon said.
GeoSea completed installation off all turbine foundations for Galloper at the end of last month. The project is expected to start operating in 2018.
