50Hertz has installed the 300MW Ostwind 3 offshore platform 40 kilometres northeast of Rügen in the German Batlic Sea.
It is to collect power from Iberdrola’s Windanker wind farm from October and transmit the electricity to the new Stilow substation, 50Hertz said.
Stefan Kapferer (pictured), chairman of the management board of 50Hertz, stated that Ostwind 3 will be completed on time and within budget.
He added: “We are also on track with the next OST-6-1 project with a transmission capacity of 927 MW, which serves to connect the Gennaker wind farm north of the Fischland-Darss-Zingst peninsula.
“Two offshore platforms are already under construction, the laying of protective pipes has begun, and a new substation near Gnewitz is taking shape.”
He said 50Hertz is making a significant contribution to tapping the wind energy potential of the Baltic Sea.
The Jasmund platform is the first offshore platform in the Baltic Sea for which 50Hertz is fully responsible for construction and operation.
Its jacket was built in Vlissingen and the topside near Rotterdam before installation from a 200-metre-long floating vessel on 17 December.
A cable of about 100 kilometres will link the platform with the Stilow grid connection point, with sea and land sections already laid.
The company said upcoming work will focus on pulling in the cable, completing the substation and test operation ahead of the 30 September 2026 expected completion date.
