German fabricator Ambau is to build 18 tower sections, transition pieces and monopiles on behalf of Senvion for the 111MW Nordergründe offshore wind farm.
The wind farm will be located in the German North Sea within the 12 mile zone north-east of island Wangerooge, north of the town of Wilhelmshaven.
It is the first time that Ambau has built the complete steel structure below the nacelle for a wind farm.
The tower sections will be 43 metres long, have a diameter of 5.5m and weigh about 10,500 tonnes.
