Belgian transmission system operator Elia is tendering for the installation of a switchyard for a new grid to connect several offshore wind farms.
The contract also includes engineering work, the provision of a cargo barge, the transport and the demobilisation of the device.
The successful bidder will perform a seabed survey and install pre-designed noise mitigation equipment prior to pile driving.
The work is expected to start in September and run to the end of 2019.
The grid provider is poised to make a final investment decision once the government has provided a legal framework for the new power network.
Elia’s new grid is expected to soon receive the final investment decision and is likely to connect the 224MW Northwester 2, 300MW Mermaid and 246MW Seastar offshore wind farms.
