Dutch shipping company Spliethoff has ordered six multipurpose vessels from Chinese shipyard Zheijiang Ouhua Shipbuilding Company that could be utilised in the offshore wind sector.
Spliethoff said the vessels will be 165 metres in length and have a deadweight of 18,000 tonnes.
They will also be equipped with heavy lift cranes and have a hold length of 100 metres.
“The accommodation, including the navigation bridge, is situated at the bow end of the vessel and ultra-long pieces of, for instance, windmill equipment, will be well-protected when carried on deck,” Spliethoff said.
The first vessel, which will be named Raamgracht, is scheduled for delivery in January 2019, followed every two months by the remaining five vessels – Realengracht, Reguliersgracht, Rijpgracht, Ringgracht and Rozengracht.
