The developer of a floating wind project in the Celtic Sea has submitted planning documents for the 100MW site.
White Cross is a 100MW offshore wind project being developed by Offshore Wind Limited, a joint venture between Flotation Energy and Cobra.
The developer has submitted Section 36 and Marine Licence applications for the site’s offshore consent to the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).
White Cross will be located 50km north-west off the North Devon and Cornwall coast.
It is a small pre-commercial size project consisting of six to eight turbines and associated moorings and will be a development under the Crown Estate’s test and demonstration leasing opportunity.
The joint venture has been developing the White Cross site since 2020 and secured the development rights from Crown Estate in July 2021.
