DNV has secured a two-year contract with Kolon Global Corporation to provide owner’s engineering services for the 400MW Wando Jangbogo offshore wind farm in South Korea.
The project in Jeollanam-do is being developed by Korea Western Power and Jeonnam Development Corporation alongside Kolon Global, which is leading delivery and introducing a community-participation model to foster local acceptance.
DNV’s scope covers turbine selection, project management support, tender preparation, bid evaluation and contract negotiation. The company said its involvement will enhance technical integrity and reduce risk while supporting Korean developers in strengthening risk management practices.
“This project is a landmark for Korea’s offshore wind ambitions – not just in scale, but in the way it brings public and private actors together with active community participation,” said Young Hee Moon, Korea manager for renewables at DNV.
Brice Le Gallo, vice president and Asia Pacific director for energy systems at DNV, said: “By guiding turbine selection, managing tenders and supporting negotiations, we’re helping developers align technical decisions with long-term commercial performance.”
Kolon vice president Sang-man Lee added: “Partnering with DNV reinforces our commitment to delivering technically sound, future-ready renewable energy projects. DNV brings both international best practice and local market insight, building a foundation for resilient execution and sustainable growth in Korea’s offshore wind sector.”
