Global Maritime has signed a memorandum of understanding with Entrion Wind to advance the developer’s Fully Restrained Platform monopile foundation technology through a planned UK demonstration project.
The deal will see Global Maritime provide transport and installation engineering services across the full lifecycle, from feasibility and front-end design to execution, operations and eventual decommissioning.
The partners will also develop a generic T&I framework for the foundation concept and extend support to future UK offshore wind projects.
Entrion Wind president Eivind Johnsen said Global Maritime’s involvement “will be instrumental as we move closer to our first deployment in the UK market”.
Global Maritime chief executive Jonny Logan added that the collaboration can “unlock new opportunities for efficient, scalable offshore wind deployment in the UK”.
Entrion’s FRP monopile is designed to extend the use of monopile foundations into waters up to 100 metres deep, offering a scalable and cost-efficient alternative to more complex foundation types.
