Union GMB has claimed that more than 150 workers at fabricator SeAH Wind’s monopile factory on Teesside will strike if talks over shift allowances and a pay offer break down.
The union said a walk out will take place next Wednesday 15 October and every Wednesday for five further weeks should the negotiations fail.
GMB stated talks are to take place on Tuesday with conciliatory service Acas.
It claims staff have rejected what is says are imposed shift allowances and a 3.1% pay offer, which it argues is below inflation and industry standards.
SeAH has been contacted for comment.
Andrew Blunt, GMB Organiser said: “Although bench marking has been addressed for some roles, it’s a pitiful pay deal and it’s just not right.
“SeAH is meant to be part of the just transition to green energy. Terms and conditions need to be retained and protected to future proof these industries – not to deskill and devalue the skills our members have.”
