Fred Olsen Windcarrier has announced that the Seafox 5 jack-up vessel will now be known as Blue Tern.
The name change, first reported in the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS in January, follows Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s agreement to take a 51% ownership stake in the vessel.

The company said Blue Tern is now under “commercial, technical and administrative management as an integral part of the Fred Olsen Windcarrier fleet of jack-up vessels for offshore wind”.
Blue Tern joins Brave Tern and Bold Tern in Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up fleet operating in the offshore wind sector.
It is 151 metres long, has a breadth of 50 metres and has a 1200-tonne crane.
The vessel can accommodate 150 personnel and operate in water depths up to 65 metres.
