Dutch company Visser & Smit Hanab has installed 66kV cabling for GE’s 12MW Haliade-X offshore wind turbine prototype at Maasvlakte, Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
The cable will connect the turbine to the high-voltage substation at Stedin, Visser & Smit Hanab said.

Testing of the 1.5km link was carried out on 16 and 17 July, it said.
Work on the turbine tower started earlier this month, with installation of the turbine expected to be completed later this summer.
Testing will start once the prototype is installed, with initial operations seeing data collected that is needed to obtain type certification.
Type certification is an important step ahead of serial production of the hardware in 2021.
