Electrical engineering outfit Visser & Smit Hanab will provide high-voltage cable termination and testing work at the 732MW Borssele 3&4 offshore wind project off the Netherlands.
Van Oord contracted the company to perform all inter-array cable terminations and testing at the project being built 22km off the coast of the Zeeland province.
Borssele 3&4 will host 77 turbines connected to an offshore high-voltage substation. The turbines will be connected by 66kV inter-array cables.
Visser & Smit Hanab director Henk Herremans said: “We are looking forward to the cooperation with Van Oord and joining forces to contribute to the development of this new Dutch wind farm together.”
It will be the third 66kV project for Visser & Smit Hanab.
The termination and testing operations the company will perform on the project include stripping and storage of the cables, while routing, termination and testing activities will start when the turbines have been installed.
Van Oord project director Jan-Willem Elleswijk said: “Visser & Smit Hanab has demonstrated expertise in high voltage connections, with an exemplary track record and reliable quality assurance processes.
“We anticipate a productive cooperation.”
