Norwegian shipping company Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) has been selected by Technip to perform haulage services for Statoil’s 30MW Hywind Scotland floating offshore wind demonstrator.
OHT said its Eagle semi-submersible heavy lift vessel will carry five substructures from Spain to Norway for Technip, with the first delivery commencing in the first half of 2017.
The work also involves preparing the transport manual, including design, procurement and installation of grillage fastenings and supports, OHT said.
The floating Hywind wind farm, located 30 kilometers off the coast of northeast Scotland, will have five 6MW Siemens turbines.
Technip was awarded the Hywind marine operations contract from Statoil earlier this year.
