Dutch outfit Jumbo has received a contract from WPD’s Taiwanese subsidiary Yunneng Windpower to transport foundations and transition pieces and install the latter at the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind farm off Taiwan.
The scope covers transportation of 40 monopiles, 120 monopile sections and 40 TPs and installation of 80 TPs, including grouting, Jumbo said.
Preparation and planning works have already started, with the first transportation commencing in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Installation is scheduled to take place in mid-2020.
Jumbo managing director Michael Kahn said: “This is a proud moment for Jumbo. The Yunlin project is the largest single contract we have been awarded in our 50-year history, and it is particularly special as it allows us to combine the strengths of both our shipping and offshore divisions.
“Our specialised teams, together with our partners, will provide a unique integrated T&I solution – from quayside to seabed – for Yunneng.”
Jumbo said it will use its K-class and J-class vessels, as well as other third-party heavy lifters and deck carriers for shipping the monopiles, sections and TP’s.
The company will use the J-class vessels with DP2 capabilities for the installation of the TP’s.
