Haesong Offshore Wind Power has named LS Marine Solution as preferred bidder for subsea cable transport and installation on its 1&3 offshore wind projects in South Korea’s Shinan region.
The company, a project entity backed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), signed a Preferred Supplier Agreement (PSA) with LS Marine at its Seoul office on 11 June.
Under the PSA, the two parties will cooperate strategically on transport and installation for the two 500MW projects, including alignment on construction schedules and technical requirements ahead of the main EPC contract.
The move reflects Haesong’s focus on localisation and supply chain security in Korea’s offshore wind sector.
“Signing this PSA with LS Marine not only strengthens our project delivery, but also helps elevate Korea’s offshore wind capabilities through local partnerships,” said Jonathan Spink, country manager for COP Korea.
“Haesong will continue expanding practical collaborations with Korean firms to foster a sustainable energy ecosystem that grows both industry and communities,” he added.
Kwon Ji-an, Haesong’s head of supply chain strategy, said the partnership reinforced the project’s technical and operational base.
“This is a meaningful agreement that combines the expertise of a domestic leader in cable installation with our ambition to secure a stable and competitive supply chain,” Kwon said.
LS Marine CEO Kim Byung-ok said the firm was proud to contribute to Haesong’s success.
“We are committed to delivering our best capabilities, built over decades in subsea cable transport and installation, to ensure smooth and successful execution,” Kim said.
The two wind farms, each 500MW, have secured power generation permits and are awaiting final environmental approval. CIP leads investment and project oversight, while its subsidiary Copenhagen Offshore Partners manages project execution.
