MingYang Smart Energy has completed production of China’s first floating offshore wind turbine.
The company said the independently developed MySE5.5MW typhoon-resistant floating wind turbine has been assembled at its Yangjiang manufacturing facility.
It added that the milestone marks the upcoming installation of the first floating prototype in China.
“The MySE5.5MW floating turbine is a great example of what we can achieve by combining our existing offshore expertise to shape the integrated fully coupled time-domain simulation and modelling of turbine-floater-mooring system,” MingYang said.
MingYang said it has also developed advanced floater movement control strategy, enabling the floating turbine adapt to the complex environment of wind, wave and current in the South China Sea.
