Chinese manufacturer MingYang has developed the largest onshore wind turbine in its portfolio.
The new MySE5.X platform has a rated power of 5.2MW and 166-metre rotor blade.
The company has installed a prototype of its MySE5.2-166 turbine in Urumqi city in China.
The MySE5.2-166 wind turbine is suitable for medium and high wind speeds, and has also been designed and developed to operate in harsh environments, including offshore wind farms, MingYang said.
The new MySE5.X platform builds on the proven supply chain that has delivered the manufacturer’s MySE3.X and 4.X platforms.
MingYang Smart Energy president and chief technology officer Qiying Zhang said: “MySE5.2-166 is one of the cornerstones of our product portfolio, with our continuous efforts to improve and optimise our products.
“We have strong confidence in making it the best choice for customers looking to cost-efficiency and reliability with high performance.”
