Navantia has confirmed it will fabricate 42 jackets for ScottishPower Renewables’ 714MW East Anglia 1 wind farm off the English coast.
The Spanish company has signed the definitive agreement with Iberdrola and its UK unit, Navantia said today.
The deal follows an order for 34 jackets that was expanded to 42 jackets in November, it said.
Navantia will assemble the jackets at its Fene shipyard in northwestern Spain from this year until late 2018. Works will require an average of about 900 employees over the next 20 months.
The order also includes the delivery of 126 pin piles, which will be produced by Windar in Asturias.
Navantia also won the contract to fabricate the offshore substation for the offshore wind project. It signed the definitive agreement on 24 November.
The first 7MW turbines are set to be installed in the summer of 2019.
