OX2 has applied for a Natura 2000 permit for the 1800MW Triton offshore wind farm in Sweden.
The project is located approximately 30km south of Ystad off the coast of Skane and will feature up to 129 turbines with maximum heights of 370 metres.
The developer’s permit application, which includes an environmental impact assessment, will be handled by the County Administrative Board of Skane.
OX2 said that the estimated electricity production will amount to approximately 7.5 terrawatt-hours per year, corresponding to the consumption of 1.5 million households and reducing the emission of approximately 4.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.
The project is part of OX2’s Swedish project development portfolio, which at the end of the third quarter amounted to 11.3GW, the developer added.
OX2 Sweden country manager Hillevi Priscar said: “This is the third application we have submitted in a short time regarding offshore wind power.
“The Triton wind farm would add renewable electricity to southern Sweden and ensure continued secured energy supply to the region and also contribute to achieving Sweden’s environmental goals.”
OX2 has previously applied for a Natura 2000 permit for the Galatea-Galene wind farm off the coast of Halland, as well as a permit to establish the wind farm under the Act on Sweden’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
