Engineering consultancy Ramboll is to coordinate and facilitate development of a strategic plan for the offshore wind sector in New Jersey.
The company has been appointed by the NJ Board of Public Utilities to lead a team that includes Stantec, Rutgers Energy Institute Wind Group, BVG, Business Network for Offshore Wind, InGroup and Endeavor Fisheries.
New Jersey has set a target of 3.5GW of installed offshore by 2030. “The strategic plan will guide the development of offshore wind as a renewable energy source in the state,” said Ramboll.
It added that the team possesses “experience in all areas of the developing offshore wind market, both domestically and internationally”.
Ramboll Americas executive Allan DeLorme added: “Ramboll has been leading the industry since it began in Denmark in 1986 and developed across Europe and into the US.
“Many lessons have been learned from Europe that can be applied to the US market, but only with a strong understanding of the local environment and the energy generation and usage markets.”
