Bladt Industries has loaded out the offshore substation for the 288MW Sandbank offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The substation and its jacket foundation (pictured) are waiting in Aalborg on the barge AMT Commander for a suitable weather window to sail to the construction site some 90km west of the island of Sylt.
The substation, which has been built by Bladt Industries, Semco Maritime and ISC, will be installed later this year.
MPI will provide support services during offshore substation commissioning works. The jack-up MPI Adventure will be on station to offer accommodation, lifting operations and supply provision.
The Sandbank wind farm will consist of 72 Siemens 4.0MW turbines, which will be installed by MPI Adventure from August.
First power from wind farm is expected to feed into the grid before the end of 2016.
