Dong Energy’s new service operations vessel Edda Passat will undergo sea trials later this year from the Spanish port of Gijòn.
Trials are slated to begin in December, ahead of the vessel’s delivery to Dong in January next year.
Edda Passat will then undergo further trials at the Danish company’s 573MW Race Bank project in the UK before starting work at the wind farm, it is understood.
The vessel was launched this April and is currently undergoing a final fit out at Spain’s Gondán shipyard.
It is one of two new 81-metre long SOVs the Spanish yard is constructing for the Danish developer.
The Spanish outfit is halfway through the building of a sister vessel, the Edda Mistral.
Gondán expects to launch the Mistral in early 2018 ahead of delivery to Dong next summer.
