Senvion has signed up GC Rieber Shipping’s Polar Queen vessel to provide support during turbine commissioning at the 332MW Nordsee 1 wind farm in the German North Sea.
The vessel will be chartered for seven months, with an option to extend the agreement by a further three months.
Polar Queen will provide crew transfer services and will be fitted with a motion compensated gangway, GC Rieber Shipping said.
“GC Rieber Shipping has considerable experience from offshore wind services. We are pleased to see that our experience and organizational capabilities are recognized by Senvion in a highly competitive market”, said chief executive Irene Waage Basili.
Senvion will supply 54 6.2M126 turbines to the RWE and Northland Power project with installation starting in early 2017.
