Oil and gas giant Shell has re-entered the offshore wind market by teaming up with Eneco, Van Oord to bid for projects off the Netherlands.
The consortium filed paperwork with the Dutch government today in pursuit of the rights to build the 350MW Borssele 1 and 350MW Borssele 2 projects off Zeeland.
Danish turbine manufacturer MHI Vestas has been named as preferred supplier for the bid.
Other companies mulling bids in the auction round were understood to include RWE, Vattenfall, Dong, Engie and Statoil.
Shell built the 108MW Egmond project off the country in 2006 before subsequently pulling out of the sector in 2008.
