Siemens Gamesa has completed installation of its 11MW prototype offshore wind turbine at the Osterild test centre in Denmark.
A company spokesperson told reNEWS that the 11.0-193 DD Flex unit’s third blade was put in place on 3 February.

“We are now running system tests so that it can start production soon,” the spokesperson said.
Total tip height of the prototype is over 230 metres, while the rotor diameter in 193 metres delivering a swept area of 29,300 square metres.
The first commercially produced 11MW machines are to be installed at Vattenfall’s 1.52GW Hollandse Kust Zuid 1-4 offshore wind farm off the Dutch coast.
