Aberdeen outfit Sparrows will fabricate 103 cranes for Granada Material Handling to supply to ScottishPower Renewables 714MW East Anglia 1 offshore wind farm off the UK east coast.
The main access platform cranes will have a lift capacity of 1.5 tonnes and the contract will support up to 75 jobs, Granada said.
All but one of the cranes will be mounted on to the wind turbine foundations, with the other used for training purposes at the operations and maintenance base in Lowestoft.
Production is expected to start early 2017 with final delivery scheduled mid-2018.
Granada Material Handling director Mark Sidwell said: “This is a considerable achievement by our renewables team and marks a new partnership with an increased UK supply chain.”
