ScottishPower Renewables has submitted an offshore consent application to the Scottish government for its proposed 3GW MarramWind floating wind farm off east Scotland.
The developer, which acquired the project in full in November after Shell sold its stake, has also made a separate planning application for onshore elements of the ScotWind scheme with Aberdeenshire Council.
The floater could comprise up to 225 turbines plus four offshore substations and would be built in three phases, according to filings.
The project has a grid connection at SSEN’s proposed Netherton Hub substation near Peterhead.
Hook-up dates are expected to be offered by the National Energy System Operator later this year as part of its ongoing Connections Reform process.
“We’re pleased to have submitted our key planning consents for MarramWind and achieved this important milestone so early in the year,” said a SPR spokesperson.
“This has been shaped by the huge amount of dialogue, engagement and consultation carried out over the last three years and our thanks to everyone who has contributed.
“We will continue to progress this exciting clean energy project at pace to bring the MarramWind offshore wind farm to life.”
