Van Oord has installed all 72 monopile foundations at Vattenfall’s 605MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm off Denmark.
The monopiles were transported from EEW Special Pipe Constructions in Rostock by Van Oord to the project site by means of floating, which took between eight and 10 hours.
Vattenfall Kriegers Flak senior package manager civil works Markus Lapke said: “The installation of the 72nd and thus last monopole marks a significant milestone for Vattenfall, especially under the current Covid-19 conditions.
“Both the production and the load-out in Rostock were professional, on schedule and without any incidents.
“On behalf of Vattenfall, I would like to express my particular thanks for the sincere collaborative partnership with EEW SPC.”
EEW SPC chief executive Heiko Mutzelburg said: “With the Kriegers Flak project, EEW SPC has already produced more than 1900 monopiles that have been or will be installed at sea.
“We would like to thank Vattenfall for the renewed confidence placed in us and look forward to continuing our professional and excellent cooperation.
“When it is commissioned at the end of 2021, the wind farm will be Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm and will supply electricity to 600,000 households.”
The foundations will support the 8.4MW Siemens Gamesa turbines.
