Van Oord crane vessel Werkendam has arrived in IJsselmeer lake in the Netherlands to start work on the 383MW Fryslan nearshore wind farm.
The developer said the vessel is starting construction of an artificial island for the wind farm.

During the project’s construction, the island will be used as a work platform.
In the future, the island will become an area for birds with and an artificial reef for fish.
A consortium of Van Oord and Siemens Gamesa called Zuiderzeewind is building the wind farm.
The project will feature 89 Siemens Gamesa 130-4.3MW turbines.
