Developer Ventolines has started turbine installation at the 383MW Fryslan nearshore project off the Dutch coast.
All 89 Siemens Gamesa units are due to be in place by June, according to the company.
Van Oord is installing the machines with rotor blades being first assembled in Oude Zeug.
“Due to the width of the locks around the IJsselmeer, the components of the turbines are shipped to the IJsselmeer and assembled there,” said the company.
Commercial operations at the project are due later this year.
“This is the final phase of the construction project and an important milestone for the wind farm,” added the developer.
“The close collaboration with contracting consortium Zuiderzeewind and all Frisian companies involved in the project has made that preparations went according to plan.”
