Iberdrola has officially opened the operation and maintenance (O&M) building in Sassnitz for the 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The two-story building, which is situated at berth one at Mukran Port in Sassnitz, was built by German construction company Goldbeck.
It consists of office rooms, workshops and a warehouse, which will be shared with the wind farm’s turbine supplier Adwen.
Iberdrola Renovables Offshore Deutschland chief executive Jürgen Blume said: “The opening of the O&M building is an important step towards the planned inauguration of the wind farm itself.”
Wikinger will consist of 70 Adwen 5MW turbines and is scheduled to be commissioned in the second half of this year.
