Wind testing services provider Deutsche WindGuard has offset a challenging market in Germany by capturing new business from Sweden and the US.
“We are pleased to receive large orders for power performance measurements in the USA and Sweden,” said Deutsche WindGuard Consulting managing director Axel Albers.
“One measurement in Sweden is particularly interesting, as it uses ground-based Lidar and numerical site calibration without a mast.
“In addition, there are several prototype tests on current wind turbine generator types with rotor diameters of up to 180 metres and many wind resource measurements in countries that have not yet been developed in terms of wind energy,” Albers added.
In 2019 Deutsche WindGuard has over 600MW of wind capacity under technical management.
Deutsche WindGuard head of business development Leif Rehfeldt said: “The German market is not easy at the moment, but we have nevertheless achieved important goals in our core services.
“Our technical management has passed the 600MW mark and our accredited inspection body is currently carrying out one of the most comprehensive offshore inspection projects since the company was set up.”
In other areas of the business, the company has placed its fifth wind tunnel for calibration into operation.
This year, Deutsche WindGuard has calibrated around 12,000 wind sensors from several manufacturers for customers worldwide.
The company has also been expanding its global footprint, and now has offices in India, China and the US.
“Through our international offices, we have further supported and expanded these activities. When our domestic market has entered challenging periods, we have been able to benefit from our strong position in the international environment,” said Rehfeldt.
