EDF EN has sold a 15% interest in the 350MW Riviere-du-Moulin wind farm in Canada to local communities.
The regional county municipality of Charlevoix and Fjord-du Saguenay, the Innu of Mashteuiatsh and Essipit First Nations as well as the Huron Wendat Nation have each acquired a 5% stake, it said without disclosing the sale price.
The French developer will maintain a 42.5% stake in the facility, which is the largest onshore wind farm it has developed to date.
Located in the Charlevoix and Fjord-du Saguenay areas of Quebec, the plant started operating in November 2015 following an investment of about $800m.
“EDF EN Canada is very proud of the relationships developed with the host communities of Rivière-du-Moulin,” EDF EN Canada director of generation Alex Couture said.
“This transaction demonstrates the importance we place on developing infrastructure projects in accordance with the community needs.”
