Enercity has started work on a 45MW wind farm east of Osnabrück, Germany.
Ten Nordex N-149 turbines, each with an output of 4.5MW and a hub height of 125 metres, will be part of the Enercity development in Stemwede, which will go into operation in autumn 2023.
The expected annual production of the site is around 96,000MWh, which corresponds to the needs of more than 38,000 households.
Enercity chief executive Dr. Susanna Zapreva said: “A quick implementation of wind power projects like this is crucial for energy transition.
“Together with the municipalities and our customers, we do more to become independent of fossil fuels and strengthen Germany as a business location.”
In close coordination with the nature conservation authority, Enercity has taken a number of compensatory measures for the wind farm.
Around 11km from the wind farm, arable land was converted into extensive grassland as a resting area for meadow birds.
A number of additional attractive habitats were created in the form of field hedges and more than 100 climate-resistant shrubs and 53 other avenue trees will be planted, Enercity said.
