Enercity has started up its 45MW Tiefenriede wind farm in Stemwede, North Rhine-Westphalia.
The project has been gradually put operations since February 2024. Its ten 4.5MW Nordex N-149 turbines will be gradually switched on until April in order to feed the wind power produced into the grid.
The wind farm’s annual output is around 96,000MWh.
Enercity is also offering the neighbouring communities in the Stemwede, Bohmte and Bad Essen project area a voluntary levy of 0.2 euro cents per kWh of wind power generated, which benefits the communities proportionately.
“With the commissioning of the new wind farm, we are reaching the next milestone in our expansion strategy for renewable energies,” said Dr Marc Hansmann, board member at enercity
“On the one hand, we are expanding our wind portfolio, and at the same time we are supporting our nationwide partners – the municipalities – in achieving their wind expansion goals and thus making a significant contribution to the energy transition in Germany.
“In the future, this enercity wind farm alone will cover the green electricity needs of more than 38,000 households.”
