Canadian developer Boralex is finalizing construction plans for the 15MW Moose Lake wind project in British Columbia.
The proponent is in discussions with Enercon for turbine supply and general contractor Borea for the construction contract, Boralex spokesperson Julie Cusson told reNEWS.
“Borea and Enercon are still our leading candidates, but we still have work to do in regards to the final choice,” said Cusson.
The developer plans to outline a construction schedule in the coming weeks.
Utility BC Hydro will buy the output under a 40-year electricity purchase agreement, part of the province’s standing offer program for renewable energy projects up to 15MW.
The Moose Lake site is on Crown land about 24km northeast of Tumbler Ridge in the Peace region, where the SOP rate is C$102.06/MWh.
The wind farm will tie into the grid at the Meikle substation, part of Pattern Energy’s under-construction 180MW Meikle wind project.
Moose Lake is expected to produce 56GWh/year and is anticipated to be operating by the fall of 2017.
BC Hydro is reviewing a second SOP proposal by Boralex, the 15MW Babcock Ridge scheme, also located near Tumbler Ridge.
