Westfalenwind has ordered 20 wind turbines from Enercon for renewable energy projects in the Siegen-Wittegenstein district of Germany.
The E-175 EP5 turbines, each with an output of around 6MW, will be used for wind farms in Bad Berleburg and Erndtebrück.
The order from the Aurich-based manufacturer also includes two transformer stations.
The wind projects are being developed in co-operation with the Wittgenstein-Berleburg Pension Chamber.
Each turbine has a height of around 240 metres, including rotor blades, and can generate enough power to supply the annual electricity for 4500 households.
Together, the turbines will soon supply around 90,000 households with clean electricity directly from the region.
Westfalenwind representative Florian Janzen said: “We are delighted that the contracts have been signed and are looking forward to the construction of the wind farms together with our partner Enercon with great anticipation.”
Enercon’s regional head for central and northern Europe Benjamin Seifert said: “Our entire team is truly happy that we have reached another milestone on our joint journey with our long-standing partner Westfalenwind and we are very much looking forward to realising these projects.”
Work to install the projects will start in spring 2026.
