Vestas has secured a turbine order totalling 96MW from Engie for the Eolica Tres Mesas 4 wind farm in Mexico.
The deal covers supply and installation of 24 machines from the Danish company’s 4MW platform.
It is the also first order in Mexico for 150-metre Vestas rotors. The 73-metre long blades will be locally manufactured at TPI Composites factory in Matamoros.
Vestas will also provide operation and maintenance of the wind farm for 25 years under an active output management 5000 service agreement.
Eolica Tres Mesas 4, which is located at Llera in Tamaulipas, is expected to come online in the first quarter of 2020.
Vestas Mexico general manager Agustíin Sanchez-Tembleque said: “Vestas pioneered wind energy in Tamaulipas, installing the first wind turbine in the state in 2014.
“We are happy to see that five years later, the state has become a national reference in the transition to a more sustainable energy mix.
“We are also very proud to extend our collaboration with Engie through a contract that also represents the introduction of our 150-metre large rotor in Mexico.”
