Engie North America has started construction of the 196MW East Fork wind farm in Kansas, which is the second phase of the 276MW Solomon Forks development.
The $228m East Fork project is located near the city of Colby in the northwest of the US state.
It will supply electricity to Brown-Forman under a power purchase agreement. The wind farm has also entered into a ‘proxy revenue swap’ with the weather risk team at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty in collaboration with Nephila Climate.
Engie North America head of US wind Matt Riley said: “East Fork is our third major project to break ground after Engie’s acquisition of the Infinity Renewables wind portfolio in February 2018, bringing our total MW under construction to nearly 700.
