Swedish developer OX2 has commissioned and handed over the 30MW Ponsivuori wind farm in Finland to owner Ikea.
The project located in Kurikka in South Ostrobothnia consists of seven Nordex turbines with a 210-metre tip height.
Foundation and road works were tackled by civil contractor Keski-Suomen Betonirakenne while the grid connection was handled by Caruna.
OX2 will continue to operate the Ponsivuori wind farm (pictured) in its role as EPC supplier, technical and commercial manager.
“We would like to thank Ikea, the municipality, the landowners and our subcontractors for their cooperation which has enabled the wind farm to be commissioned on schedule,” said OX2 Finland country manager Teemu Loikkanen.
Ponsivuori is one of four wind farms with a combined capacity of 107.4MW – and a total 25 turbines – that OX2 is building for Ikea Finland as part of an October 2018 agreement.
The others include the Verhonkulma, Langmossa and Ribacken developments.
“We are excited that our investments in wind power are now taking a step forward with the handover of Ponsivuori wind farm from OX2,” said Ikea Finland sustainability manager Tiina Suvanto.
“Ikea is committed to being climate positive by 2030 through accelerating the transition to a low carbon economy,” she added.
