Google is to buy the electricity generated by the 160MW Tellenes wind farm in Rogaland in Norway.
The developers Zephyr and Norsk Vind Energi said work on the project, which will consist of 50 Siemens 3.2MW units, will start next week.
Tellenes will be Norway’s largest wind farm when complete in 2017, the developers added.
The 12-year power purchase agreement with Google will provide electricity to the company’s data centres in Europe.
The deal is the 17th that Google has signed globally to supply its data centres with renewable energy.
Funds managed by BlackRock financed the project, which has also reached financial close.
