The 4.5MW Garth community wind farm on the island of Yell in Shetland is expected to be fully operational by March, after 14 years in development.
The five-turbine project, which has had the support of Triodos Bank and REIF Scotland, has been constructed by Enercon and features the manufacturer’s hardware.
Each turbine is 45 metres in height and has 22-metre blades.
Construction took five weeks and the turbines were installed in 22 days, said Triodos Bank.
The next step is the completion of the grid connection works and commissioning, it added.
The project is owned by Garth Wind Limited, which is a subsidiary of North Yell Development Council.
