RWE has commissioned the over 26MW Les Pierrots wind farm in France, its first such onshore project in the country.
The €33m Les Pierrots, which is located about 250km south of Paris, features 11 Nordex N117 2400 turbines.
RWE has also signed a three-year power purchase agreement with Statkraft for the electricity generated by Les Pierrots.
The contract provides for the marketing of green electricity within the framework of the French subsidy regime.
Under the terms of the deal, Statkraft takes over the electricity sales management.
RWE Renewables France country chair Joseph Fonio said: “Thanks to the great performance of the entire team, we brought Les Pierrots online on schedule.
“Our colleagues did an excellent job and we were able to rely on their extensive experience in building onshore wind farms and their knowledge of local conditions.
“I would also like to thank the responsible officials who actively supported us in realising Les Pierrots.”
RWE plans to commission two more onshore wind farms in 2022 in France – Les Hauts Bouleaux and Martinpuich.
In addition, it will start building three more French wind farms with a total capacity of 50MW this year.
