RWE has made the decision to construct four wind projects in France and Poland, totalling 76MW and comprising a combined investment of €95m.
Three of the projects are located in France, with the 26MW Les Pierrots marking RWE’s debut in France’s wind market by being the first to enter construction.
Work will begin on the other two French and the Polish projects in the first quarter of 2021.
Les Pierrots is located in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
The 18MW Les Hauts Bouleaux and the 15MW Martinpuich are located in the north of France.
The 17MW Polish project Rozdrazew is located 80km south-east of Poznan.
All these projects featured in the development pipeline of Nordex, which it sold to RWE in November 2020.
This acquisition added a further 2.7GW in France, Spain, Sweden and Poland to RWE’s existing 22GW development pipeline.
The bulk of the new portfolio – 1.9GW – is based in France.
The development business also included a team of more than 70 employees with extensive experience in this area, which is now part of RWE Renewables.
By the end of 2022, RWE said it aims to expand its portfolio to a net capacity of more than 13GWW, involving an investment of €5bn net.
The expansion is focused on North America, its core markets in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
