Georgia utility Southern Power has acquired two wind farms in Texas with a combined capacity of 300MW from EDF.
The utility has bought the 174MW Salt Fork wind farm in Donley and Gray Counties, as well as the 126MW Tyler Bluff facility in Cooke County for an undisclosed amount.
Both were developed by EDF and started operating this month, Southern said.
Salt Fork, which comprises 87 Vestas turbines, benefits from a 14-year power purchase agreement for 150MW with the city of Garland and a 12-year deal for 24MW with Salesforce.
The Tyler Bluff wind farm, consisting of 52 Siemens turbines, will sell most of its output to Procter & Gamble.
Southern now owns more than 1GW of wind capacity and has grown its wholesale renewable portfolio to over 3GW.
“Southern Power is committed to strategically growing our wind generation portfolio,” chief executive Buzz Miller said.
