French oil and gas company Total has acquired developer Vents d’Oc and its pipeline of more than 200MW of mainly wind projects.
The deal has been carried out by Total’s renewable electricity generation subsidiary in France Quadran, which operates a portfolio of more than 830MW of solar, wind and hydro.
General Manager of Gas, Renewables & Power at Total Philippe Sauquet said: “This acquisition reinforces Total’s commitment to renewable energy development in France. It is part of the Group’s growth strategy (across) the entire value chain of low-carbon electricity in France.”
The company said in addition it was one of the main winners of the latest CRE tender with 14 selected projects with a cumulative power of 114MW, nearly 15% of the volumes awarded.
Quadran will be named Total Quadran on 1 September, and will be directed by Thierry Muller.
Total said it “integrates climate change into its strategy and anticipates new trends of the energy market by developing a portfolio of activities in low-carbon electricity” with the ambition that it represents 15% to 20% of its sales by 2040.
