Vestas has inked a turnkey deal to supply seven turbines to Eon subsidiary Avacon Natur for an unnamed 29MW wind farm in Germany.
The Danish manufacturer will install and commission V136-4.2MW units with towers of 166 metres, the tallest currently offered by the company.
Installation will take place from the second quarter of next year at what Vestas described as “a highly complex steel production facility in Lower Saxony”.
The “facility’s limited space and industrial infrastructure requires a specific transportation and installation solution to construct the project”, which has meant the company has also taken on the civil engineering, procurement and construction role.
“We were faced with a unique project environment which required innovative solutions such as a Vestas Ice Detection system, a project specific installation concept meant for sites with extremely limited space and a condition monitoring system for the rotor blades”, said Vestas north and central Europe president Nils de Baar.
“Together with a great interdisciplinary project team and in strong collaboration with our customer, we managed to develop this customised solution that demonstrates our experience, knowledge and passion to make wind energy work in challenging conditions”.
Commissioning is due in the third quarter of next year.
