Trianel has acquired the 24MW Gebersreuth wind farm in Thuringia from Fronteris, as part of plans to grow its German renewable energy portfolio.
The project, which is situated in Gefell near the Bavaria and Saxony borders, will feature eight Enercon E115 3MW turbines with 149-metre hub heights and a 115-metre rotor diameters.
Fronteris has already erected the first tower segments at Gebersreuth, which was formerly known as Windpark Neue Reuth.
All towers are scheduled to be up by February, followed by the installation of nacelles in April and rotors in May.
Full commissioning is expected by the end of May, Trianel said.
Trianel’s renewable energy unit TEE, partly-owned by 40 local and regional utilities, aims to operate at least 275MW of wind and solar plants across Germany by 2018.
The current portfolio includes 20MW of solar photovoltaics and 112MW of onshore wind in seven German states.
