Vattenfall is to withdraw the up to 122.5MW Mynydd Lluest y Graig wind farm in Powys from the planning system.
The Swedish developer has written to the Planning Inspectorate asking it to deregister MLyG from the pre-application stage of the Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects process.
Vattenfall had planned to submit a Development Consent Order application for the 25-35 turbine project by summer 2017.
Construction of MLG would have been dependent upon a grid connection being provided by Scottish Power Energy Network with a 2km direct link to National Grid’s suspended Mid Wales Connection project.
National Grid shelved the 400kV transmission line following DECC’s refusal last September of all but one of five Powys wind farms comprising the Mid Wales Conjoined Inquiry.
MLyG combines Vattenfall’s previous 15-turbine Mynydd Waun Fawr proposal, which was submitted to Powys Council in 2007 and later withdrawn, and the 23-turbine Rhyd Ddu wind farm.
