Vattenfall has officially opened the Klaverspoor wind farm in the municipality of Moerdijk, in the Netherlands.
The opening was carried out by Anne-Marie Spierings, Member of the Provincial Executive for North Brabant, and Gerard van Oostveen, head of the development of wind farms at Vattenfall Netherlands.
Klaverspoor Wind Farm is the first site in the Energy A16 project to be opened.
The facility consists of six turbines with a combined capacity of more than 34MW.
Spierings said: “I am proud that we have opened the Klaverspoor wind farm today.
“This site is an example of good consultation between the developer, local residents, municipality and the province.
“Partly thanks to the efforts of Energiek Moerdijk, 25% of the wind turbines are locally owned and all residents share.
“This makes Energie A16 unique in the Netherlands. In this way, together we are taking an important step towards a sustainable future.”
The wind farm contributes to the ambition of North Brabant to use 100% sustainable energy by 2050. To achieve this ambition, the province is bundling eight sites under the name Energie A16.
A total of 28 wind turbines will be installed along the A16.
